Clarion University Printer Purchases

Printers:  There are two types of printers listed: “laser” and “ink jet”.  Laser printers have better: reliability, speed, print quality, and lower cost of ownership (i.e. toner vs. ink cartridges) compared to the ink jet printers.  The other distinction is the difference between “local” and “Networked” printers. 
  These are explained below:

Local Printers:  Local printers are designed to be connected directly to your computer via USB cable.  This means that printers used in this manner are recommended for use by a single person on a single computer (“local”) and not for use by multiple individuals.

Network Ready Printers:  These printers are designed to be used in a group scenario where multiple individuals can print to the same printer without dependencies on a single computer.  These printers are connected directly to the network (CNet) and allow for the flexibility of many users printing to it at any given time.

3 Year Extended Warranty** – This warranty will cover a user for 3 years total manufacturer warranty.  
This warranty provides an HP-authorized technician onsite between 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding HP holidays. Before dispatching a technician, we may first attempt to solve the problem during a phone call.  The warranty does cover: power supplies, fans, JetDirects, main boards and laser scanner assembly. The warranty does not cover the following items: software printing errors, operator panel printer settings, toners, drums, inks, and physical damage to a printer.

Total Price* - includes printer delivery and setup at user location.  Vendor will be responsible for 
un-boxing printer and cable, setup and configuration of the printer.
     Included Cable: The cable that is included will be a 6' USB cable for non-networked printers.
                                 The cable that is included for networked printers is a 14' RJ45 network cable.
